Our Fresno-based Divorce Lawyer is experienced in all Aspects of Family Law

This often means moving deftly to settle a divorce case early and avoiding costly and emotionally traumatic litigation.

Our divorce attorney practices in the family law areas of child support, child custody, spousal support or spousal alimony, community property, and restraining orders so that no matter what issue arises during the divorce proceedings, your lawyer can effectively and successfully manage the case to the optimal outcome.

Child Support Lawyer in Fresno

California child support laws require each parent to support their child until the child dies, becomes emancipated, or reaches the age of 18. The child support obligation may be extended if the child is in high school full-time beyond the age of 18.

Reasoned arguments from a knowledgeable divorce attorney can ensure that a judge considers all factors in determining child support, including income, the parent with whom the child spends the most time, and costs of raising the child. A divorce lawyer’s assistance is especially valuable when child support arrangements may be altered due to changing circumstances.

Child Custody Attorney for Merced & Madera

Child custody is often a contentious issue during a divorce. While courts are required to determine child custody based on the best interests of the children, skillful divorce lawyers in Fresno can facilitate a child custody arrangement that allows for a stable environment and adequate care and guidance.

A divorce lawyer also plays a role in child custody mediation, an important aspect of setting up a workable child custody plan. Attorney Gurjit Srai is adept at creating child custody plans that take into account a wide range of family scenarios.

Spousal Support and Alimony Lawyer for Visalia & Clovis

Spousal support and alimony can determine how child support arranged. There are generally two different types of spousal support – temporary and permanent. State law again provides guidelines to determine temporary spousal alimony, but your divorce attorney plays an important role in safeguarding your rights and ensuring a permanent spousal alimony arrangement is fair to everyone.

Community Property Attorney for Tulare

Because California is a community property state, all property that is acquired during marriage is generally considered community property. There are exceptions, and an experienced divorce attorney can help divide community property equitably, through equalization payments, buyouts or other methods.

Restraining Orders

An automatic restraining order goes into effect once divorce papers are filed and prevents a partner from taking action regarding finances or children without the other partner’s consent.

Another type of restraining order is the domestic violence restraining order. Divorce lawyer Gurjit Srai takes the issue of physical abuse very seriously – whether it happens to men or women – and will work vigorously to obtain a restraining order pending a court hearing if abuse is proven.
